Instrumental Music Program
Dear Parents and Students,
Instrumental music is about to begin at Quail Run Elementary and I am excited to get things started! Instrumental music will be held once a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday (please see the specific class times for each instrument). Each class will be divided into similar instruments and will be 45 minutes long. The first class will for Advanced students will start the week of August 31st, and Beginning classes will start the week of September 8th after Labor Day. Please make sure that your child has his/her instrument and assigned music book. Music students are expected to participate for the entire year and are required to practice an average of 15 minutes daily.
Instruments:
If you do not already have an instrument, you can buy or rent a violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet or trombone. I recommend that you go to a local music store to arrange a rental. They will guide you in acquiring a quality instrument so that your child will have the best chance at success, and string students will be provided the correct size instrument.
Books:
Please make sure that you have the following music book that corresponds to the instrument your child will play. Again, the local music stores can help you make sure you have the proper book.
Beginning Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Violin, Viola, and Cello
Essential Elements 2000 – Book 1
Advanced Band and Strings
Essential Elements 2000 – Book 2
